The President has not asked Shammi to resign as the Cricket Chairman.

Cabinet Spokesperson Minister Nalinda Jayatissa said that the reports that the President has asked the current Chairman of the Sri Lanka Cricket to resign are false. He said this while responding to a question raised by journalists at the Cabinet Decisions Media Conference held yesterday (22).

Expressing further views, the Minister said:

”The government has not taken any decision regarding the removal of the Chairman of the Sri Lanka Cricket and the appointment of an interim board of directors headed by Iran Wickramaratne in his place. No official discussion has been held in this regard so far. No such discussion has been held in Parliament or the Cabinet. Also, the government has a clear vision regarding the governance of cricket and its development.
