The Kap planting ceremony for the Esala Perahera at the historic Sri Dalada Maligawa in Kandy was held at the auspicious time of 6.17 am today.
Accordingly, after the Kap planting ceremony today, the internal perahera will be held for 5 days at the four major temples of Natha, Vishnu, Pattini and Kataragama until the 17th.
After that, the first Kumbal Perahera will begin its street tour on the 18th, and the perahera will be held from then until the 22nd. The first Randoli Perahera will begin its street tour on the 23rd, and the final Randoli Perahera will be held on the 27th, followed by the Diya Kemme Perahera and the afternoon perahera on the 28th of August.
The Kandy Esala Perahera is scheduled to conclude after the Diyawadana Nilame hands over the Perahera Sandesh to the President at the President’s House in Kandy in the afternoon.
