Ceylon Teachers Union alleges that due to the suspension of teacher transfers of teachers who have worked for more than 5 years in the Polonnaruwa Education Zone due to the intervention of North Central Province Governor Mahipala Herath, there has been serious unrest among the teachers of that education zone.
President of Ceylon Teachers’ Association Priyantha Fernando said this yesterday (30) while holding a special press conference. Further commenting there, he said that President Ranil Wickremesinghe violated the national school teacher transfer policy and canceled the transfer of 12000 teachers. Central Province Governor Mahipala Herath has stopped the transfer of 200 teachers in Polonnaruwa region.
He also said that due to this arbitrary act, the teachers who worked in different parts of the country under various difficulties have lost the opportunity to finish their hard service , and go to a place of work near their residence. He further said that giving such an order only for the transfer of teachers in the Polonnaruwa region seems to have been done to meet political needs.
