It has been confirmed by a forensic examination that the death of a woman in Mulliyavalai, Mullaitivu, Boutonvyal village, who was initially reported to have jumped into a well and committed suicide, was actually a murder.
Two women were arrested yesterday (27th) by the Mulliyavalai police. These women are alleged to have been having an extramarital affair with the deceased woman’s husband.
The victim, a 23-year-old woman named Sudarshani, was a resident of Vavuniyapuram village in Vavuniya. She was married to a man residing in the Mullaitivu area.
Some time ago, her husband had an affair with two other women in the same area. It is reported that he strangled his wife and dumped her body in the well.
Then he was shocked that wife had fallen into the well, a group of people came, rescued her, and took her to the Mulliyawalai Hospital.
In the post-mortem examination, the forensic doctor ruled that the woman died of suffocation before falling into the well, confirming it was a murder.
The police stated that the husband was arrested by the Mulliyavalai police on suspicion, and he confessed everything during questioning. The two women with whom he had extramarital relationships are also currently in police custody.
