The Court Will Decide the Fate of the Justice Minister Today

The Colombo District Court today allowed Sri Lanka Freedom Party Member of Parliament Duminda Dissanayake to present facts regarding the interim order challenging the appointment of Justice Minister, President’s Counsel Wijayadasa Rajapaksa, as the President of Sri Lanka.

The decision on whether the court will issue an injunction is to be given today (16th).

President’s Counsel Romesh de Silva, who appeared for Minister Wijayadasa Rajapaksa, raised objections challenging the continuation of the complaint. He pointed out that the Kaduwela District Court has already issued an order to all the relevant parties to prevent Minister Wijayadasa Rajapaksa from acting as the President of the Sri Lanka Freesdam Party.

President’s Counsel Chandaka Jayasundara, who appeared for MP Duminda Dissanayake, argued that the order given by the Kaduwela District Court has no effect on this particular case.

Accordingly, Colombo District Court Judge Sandun Withana announced that the order related to the injunction will be issued today morning.
