It is reported that a suspect has been arrested in connection with the incident in which a person was shot and seriously injured in the Malawiakanda Road area, Athurugiriya recently (17). He was arrested yesterday (01) on suspicion of aiding and abetting this crime.
Based on information revealed from the suspect, the motorcycle with fake number plates, which the suspects allegedly used for the crime, was found at his house, and it has been revealed that the fake number plates were also involved in a shooting incident that took place in the Dehiwala area earlier.
It has also been revealed that this crime was carried out by an organized criminal and drug trafficker residing abroad.
The Western Province Southern District Crime Division is conducting further investigations into the incident.
