According to police sources, State Minister Sanath Nishantha died in a car accident on the Katunayake Expressway early this morning (25).
A police constable attached to the security wing of the state minister also died in the accident and the driver was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
According to an official statement of the Sri Lanka Police, the accident took place at 2 am and the SUV in which the Minister of State was traveling collided with the rear end of a cargo container vehicle heading towards Colombo.
