Spain wins the World Cup .

Spain defeated Argentina 1-0 in the final of the FIFA World Cup on Sunday.

The final match at MetLife Stadium in New York, USA, was so close that the referees had to give extra time to decide the winner.

Spain took the lead in the match with a superb goal scored by Spanish striker Ferran Torres in the extra time. Although the Argentine players, led by Lionel Messi, came close to scoring several times in the match, they were unable to overcome the Spanish defense and goalkeeper.

Argentina were reduced to 10 men for the remainder of the match after midfielder Enzo Fernandez was sent off for a second yellow card (a red card) in extra time.

Spain, who won their first World Cup in South Africa in 2010, won their second FIFA World Cup in 16 years.
