A strike by the minor employees’ unions of hospitals across the country lonched a strike demanding that the transportation allowance of thirty five thousand rupees given to the doctors be given to them too.
This stipend has been given to doctors for some time and last Monday the stipend was increased to 70,000 rupees by a cabinet decision.
Due to the strike situation, a tense situation is developing around the hospitals, and the army troops have been called to maintain the operations of the hospitals without interruption.
The Army says that these personnel have been deployed on a request made by the Ministry of Health and that they are ready to deploy more troops as needed.
