SLTB to recruit 1,000 driver-conductors with big salaries and many allowances.

The Sri Lanka Transport Board has invited applications for the recruitment of 1,037 drivers and conductors on a contract basis for depots located throughout the island.

The new recruitment programme aims to fill 788 driver vacancies and 249 conductor vacancies.

Candidates between the ages of 21 and 45 years can apply for the posts of drivers and must have passed six subjects with two Distinctions (D) in the G.C.E. Ordinary Level examination and must have a valid Heavy Vehicle Driving License for more than three years. They must also meet the prescribed physical and health qualifications.

Candidates for the posts of conductors must be between the ages of 18 and 45 years and must have passed six subjects with two Distinctions (C) in the G.C.E. Ordinary Level examination, including Mathematics and Mother Tongue.

Selected drivers will be entitled to a monthly contract salary of Rs. 40,847 and conductors will be entitled to a monthly basic contract allowance of Rs. 40,008. In addition, a cost of living allowance of Rs. 17,800, overtime allowance and incentive allowance will be given.

Employees will be entitled to contribute to the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) and Employees Trust Fund (ETF) for the employees who are recruited.

Applications prepared in the prescribed format should be sent by registered post to the address ‘Chief Executive Officer, Sri Lanka Transport Board, No. 200, Kirula Road, Narahenpita, Colombo 05’ so that they reach it before 07th September 2026.
