Diyawadana Nilame Pradeep Nilanga Dela said in a media conference that a discussion has started to discuss the gazettement of all the performance items including the dance elements performed at the annual Kandy Esala Perahera Festival held by ”Sri Dalanda Maligawa” and ”satara Maha Devala.”
Diyawadana Nilameyya pointed out that these discussions were held today , with the President’s Secretary Saman Ekanayake and that by gazetting all items including dance elements, they can be maintained without distortion in the future.
He said in the discussion that it is planned to gazette the tasks of the participants and the government agencies providing facilities to maintain the historical Esala Perahera festival in Kandy respecting the ancient customs.
According to a request from President Ranil Wickremesinghe through the Perahera memorandum, the program will be implemented as per the instructions of the President, said the Diyawadana Nilamewarya.
