The case filed against former President Ranil Wickremesinghe for misuse of public property is scheduled to be recalled before the Colombo Magistrate’s Court today (August 26).
The former President, who appeared before the court last Friday (August 23), was remanded until today. However, due to his health condition, he is currently receiving treatment at the Intensive Care Unit of the Colombo National Hospital. According to medical recommendations, he will need to rest in bed for at least three days.
Security arrangements have been tightened to control protesters who may come to Colombo on the day of the trial. Security forces, including riot control units, have been deployed for this purpose.
Some roads in Colombo have been closed and roadblocks have been set up at various locations.
