The International Truth and Justice Project (ITJP) has reportedly compiled a list of nearly 60 more Sri Lankans accused of human rights violations and economic crimes in Sri Lanka. Accordingly, the organization has so far submitted more than 60 requests for sanctions and visa bans against public representatives and security officials.
The ITJP organization has reportedly provided these lists of individuals to the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, the European Union and the United Nations.
The names of Sri Lankan army, navy, air force, police and intelligence officers as well as Tamil paramilitaries are included in these lists. In addition, the names of judges and former ministers and civil servants are also included in the list, the ITJP organization says.
These include serious human rights violations, atrocities, extrajudicial killings, enforced disappearances, arbitrary arrest and detention, torture, and various forms of sexual violence committed during and after the civil war.
The ITJP is an international human rights organization led by human rights lawyer Yasmin Sooka. It operates from South Africa.
