This directive has been given to the Deputy Inspector General of Police responsible for the Northern District in the Western Province.
Upon the President’s return, there is a potential threat of opposition political factions attempting to disrupt his high-security motorcade. Tennakoon’s letter highlights several risks, including the possibility of an attack by armed groups, the risk of a sniper attack, and the potential for public disturbances and protests.
