After President Ranil Wickremesinghe’s special statement to the nation tomorrow night, reports indicate that a cabinet reshuffle is imminent, sparking a serious crisis within the main opposition political party, Samagi Jana Balawega (SJB).
Three new ministers are expected to be appointed by President Wickremesinghe, including some influential figures who currently serve as independent MPs after initially representing the SJB in Parliament.
There are reports suggesting that Rajitha Senaratne is poised to receive a ministerial position, though the identities of the other two prospective ministers remain uncertain. This situation has drawn significant attention, particularly toward MPs who have refrained from criticizing the government in recent times.
Additionally, it is reported that the call from Gampaha District SJB organizers for Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka’s immediate expulsion from the party is linked to the issue of preferential votes within the district.
