The government has decided to conduct a special audit regarding the alleged financial irregularities in the Nuwara Eliya District Secretariats, says Nuwara Eliya District Development Committee Chairman and Member of Parliament Manjula Suraweerarachchi.
Accordingly, the audit will examine the alleged fraud of beneficiaries in the Norwood and Lindula Divisional Secretariats, the disaster funds provided to people affected by Cyclone Ditwa, and whether the Rs. 5,000 allowance provided to low-income earners during the Covid period was properly received by the beneficiaries, he says.
Accordingly, 10 Divisional Secretariats in the Nuwara Eliya District are scheduled to be audited for the period from 2023 to 2026, and he requested the Aswesuma beneficiaries and low-income earners to prepare the necessary information for this.
This audit is scheduled to be carried out under the supervision of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, says Member of Parliament Manjula Suraweerarachchi.
