Preparations to appoint committees similar to those in communist countries to monitor ministries

The National People’s Power is reportedly preparing to appoint a monitoring committee for each ministry.

The responsibility of monitoring and advising the activities of the ministries will be assigned to these committees. The National People’s Power has also noted in its election manifesto that such a mechanism will be established.

The General Secretary of the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna, a major partner of the National People’s Power, Tilvin Silva, has also stated that the process of appointing such committees has already begun. He has said that these committees, which will operate on a voluntary basis, will include representatives from various disciplines.

He has further said that such mechanisms are operating in countries such as China and Vietnam, which are under communist rule.
