Permission to reclaim paddy lands for those who lost their homes due to the cyclone.

The Department of Agrarian Development will grant approval to farmers who lost their homes due to the disaster to reclaim 10 perches of their paddy fields to build a new house only in cases where there is no other land, said Kandy District Deputy Commissioner T.A. Ranasinghe.

Although reclaiming paddy lands is completely prohibited, this approval will be granted only if the house is completely destroyed and he does not have any other land.

For this, a report from the National Building Research Institute, a certificate from the Grama Niladhari and the Divisional Secretary stating that there is no land are required, Deputy Commissioner T.A. Ranasinghe stated that this approval will be granted within a maximum period of 03 months after the relevant documents with the application are submitted. He said that only a 10 perches piece of land can be reclaimed for the construction of a new house.
