Parliament suspends the increased salaries of the central bank.

The decision taken by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka to increase the salaries of its employees greatly ,the State Finance Committee has recommended immediate cessation.

Chairman of that committee, Member of Parliament, Dr. Harsha De Silva, presented the related report to Parliament today. Thereby, the Minister of Finance has proposed to reconsider the 2024-2026 salary increase of the Central Bank by an independent committee appointed with the agreement of the Governor of the Central Bank.

In addition, the report has recommended that the report should be given to the State Finance Committee within four weeks, and that the central bank should suspend the proposed salary increase within that period.
