Health Minister Nalinda Jayatissa says that the discussion scheduled for today (09) with the Government Medical Officers Association (GMOA) will not take place.
Revealing the facts about the medical strike in Parliament today, the Minister said, “If they continue to behave in this way, I will not hold the discussion that was given today… This strike is unfair. We are ready to face it as a government.”
The Minister, who said that he requested that the strike, which is being carried out by a small group for political purposes, be stopped, added that the new medical officers who are scheduled to take office from today will be provided with the necessary security to report for duty without any fear.
The Minister emphasized that if any mistake has been made in granting post-internship medical appointments by the Ministry of Health, it is best to seek the assistance of the courts.
