Samagi Jana Balawega MP Mujibur Rahman says that rice is being imported from India at less than Rs. 150 per kilo. He also pointed out that the government has imposed a tax of Rs. 65 per kilo of rice and made the maximum price 230.
The MP also alleges that for the first time in history, the NPP government imposed a tax of Rs. 65 or a tax of 45% on a kilo of rice.
He further said that previous governments also imported rice when there was a shortage and provided rice to the people at a concessional price under a tax of Rs. 2 or a maximum of Rs. 10.
