Ministry of Education seeks information from accused principal

The Ministry of Higher Education and Vocational Education has drawn attention to the incident of a female student publicly telling about an injustice done to her by the principal of Sirimavo Bandaranaike College during the colours night, which has been the subject of intense controversy on social media.

It is reported that a report has been called from the principal who is accused in connection with the incident. The call for a report from the accused is already receiving serious criticism on social media. A majority of social media users indicate that asking the accused principal for information regarding such an incident is unfair to the victim student. They question what kind of justice the Ministry of Education expects by asking the principal instead of conducting a fair investigation by a committee appointed by the Ministry.

However, the Ministry Secretary Nalaka Kaluwewa has stated that after receiving the relevant report, relevant instructions and actions will be taken.
