Minister Tiran says who will support him in the presidential election

The Minister of Public Security, Tiran Alas, emphasized that he is committed to continuing operations aimed at suppressing drugs, combating the underworld and preventing violence against women and children, no matter what pressure comes.

The minister expressed these views while attending a news conference held at the Presidential Media Center under the theme ‘A collective path to a stable country’.

Answering a question raised by a journalist regarding Operation Justice, the Minister said that the value of the drugs seized so far during Operation Justice, which started on 17th December 2023, is Rs. 7.8 billion, and assets including confiscated vehicles and buildings amount to Rs. He also mentioned 725 million. He also mentioned that 58,562 raids have been conducted and 58,234 persons engaged in illegal activities have been arrested.

The minister answered a question about the upcoming presidential election. He said that he would express his support to the President Ranil Wickremesinghe as the presidential candidate.

“The President has brought the country out of disaster. No long queues now. We strongly believe that those who understand the prevailing conditions should not think of electing another president.” He added.
