Minister Nalinda says what will be done to those who lie about the health sector.

The government’s drug procurement process is carried out transparently and in accordance with proper standards, and patients’ lives will not be put at risk in any way, said Health Minister Nalinda Jayatissa.

He further said that the current government is working under the proper procurement process and the strict supervision of the National Medicines Regulatory Authority (NMRA), and that all drug registrations and inspections are carried out systematically.

Addressing a media briefing, the Minister recalled the corruption that took place during the tenure of former Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella. He emphasized that no activity will be carried out under the current government to create artificial emergencies and violate laws to enrich their own pockets without ordering medicines under a proper procurement system.

Despite such a situation, the Minister said that certain channels and social media groups are spreading news that undermines trust in the health sector, adding that the government will not hesitate to take action against such groups and individuals in accordance with the general law in the country.
