Former President Maithripala Sirisena, who came to the Criminal Investigation Department to give a statement, has left a few moments ago.
Former President Maithripala Sirisena had given this statement today (25) according to a notice issued by the CID to come to give a statement regarding a controversial statement made regarding the Easter Sunday terror attack.
Mr. Maithripala Sirisena had recently made a statement in Kandy that he knew the people involved in the Easter Sunday attack.
The Minister of Public Security Mr. Tiran Alas has instructed the Inspector General of Police to conduct an urgent investigation regarding the relevant statement and accordingly he has been summoned to the Criminal Investigation Department this morning to record a statement from former President Maithripala Sirisena.
