Victoria’s Secret a brand that has always been a subject of controversy in the fashion world has brought back its ‘Fantasy Bra’ after an 18-year hiatus, presenting it as the brand’s most extraordinary creation. This unveiling took place during the Victoria’s Secret fashion show held on Sunday, October 18th.
Created in collaboration with the luxury jewelry brand ‘Jacob & Co.’, this $50 million bra was worn on the Victoria’s Secret runway by the renowned model Kylie Jenner.
Intricately set with diamonds, this year’s bra is valued at $50 million, making it the most expensive ‘Fantasy Bra’ ever created in history. Comprising 4,410 natural diamonds (with a total weight of 1,373.39 carats), the piece is adorned with a series of diamonds hanging from its lower edge, as well as a rare 75.54-carat ‘Natural Fancy Vivid Yellow’ diamond positioned at the center. Wearing a white ensemble complete with feathered wings, Jenner presented one of the most striking sights of the evening.
Her mother, Kris Jenner, and her boyfriend, Timothée Chalamet, were seen seated in the front row, there to support the founder of the ‘KHY’ brand.
The iconic diamond bra, which first debuted in 1996, was originally worn by Claudia Schiffer. It last appeared in the 2018 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show; that version the ‘Dream Angels Fantasy Bra’ was created by Swarovski and featured 21,000 diamonds.
Some praised the return of the bra, exclaiming, “We’ve been waiting for this… the crown jewel of VS!” However, according to international media, many fashion enthusiasts have leveled harsh criticism at the show, describing it as hollow and devoid of meaning.
