Tissamaharama Magistrate Tharindu Sameera Silva ordered the release of Somipala Ratnayake, the head priest of Ruhunu Kataragama Mahadevala, who was arrested by the Colombo Crime Division (CCD) on two sureties of Rs 500,000 each.
It is reported that the chief custodian of the Kataragama temple, who is the main suspect in the case of the disappearance of the 38-pound gold plate offered to the Kataragama devalaya by the wife of an underworld leader, Angoda Lokka, was brought to court after being arrested early yesterday morning.
