India’s defeat leaves Sooryavanshi in a angry mood

India’s defeat in the tri-nation ODI series between India A and Sri Lanka A in Dambulla has led to a tense situation.

15-year-old Indian youngster Vaibhav Sooryavanshi got into a heated exchange of words with a Sri Lanka ‘A’ player, and senior player Niroshan Dickwella finally intervened and calmed the situation.

The tense situation arose after India ‘A’ lost the crucial match, which went to the Super Over.

India needed 17 runs to win the match in the Super Over, and that over was bowled by Sri Lanka ‘A’ fast bowler Kagudas Mathulan. India could only score 9 runs in that over. Suriyawanshi, who faced the last three balls of the over, could only score 6 runs, including one four.

As the match ended, the Sri Lankan players began to celebrate the victory and Suriyawanshi, who was returning to the stadium, made some statements targeting the Sri Lankan players.

An angry Suriyawanshi quickly rushed towards the Sri Lankan bowler Mathulan and as the ensuing argument escalated, Suriyawanshi was caught on video pushing a Sri Lankan player.

Earlier, Indian captain Tilak Verma had a heated discussion with the umpires for about 10 minutes at the end of the match, saying that there was no legal provision for holding a super over.

There too, Suriyawanshi came to argue with the umpires, but the Indian head coach had taken steps to restrain him.

It has not yet been announced whether the players will be formally punished for this undisciplined behavior, or will be warned and released.
