An Indian woman was arrested by the Police Narcotics Bureau at the Katunayake Airport yesterday (06) morning for carrying cocaine worth 65 million rupees hidden in a fake bottom in her suitcase.
She has visited Sri Lanka three times before and the arrest was made based on intelligence information, airport sources said. The Police Narcotics Division has been able to recover 1.644 kilograms of cocaine hidden in her suitcase.
A Sri Lankan who was waiting in the Kollupitiya area to receive the cocaine she brought has also been arrested by the police. Both suspects are scheduled to be produced before the Negombo Magistrate’s Court.
