Considering the crisis that has arisen between computer-operated three-wheelers and ordinary three-wheeler drivers, the government has focused on regulating the entire three-wheeler sector.
The priority is to eliminate the existing irregularities in charging fares and introduce a specific fare system that is fair to both the passenger and the driver.
In many countries of the world, taxi services operate under the strict supervision of the government or local authorities. In such countries, taxis operate on a “meter fare” or “fixed fare” system determined in advance through mobile applications. Therefore, the passenger gets a clear understanding of the fare before starting the journey, which has reduced conflicts between the driver and the passenger.
It is planned to implement such a transparent service in Sri Lanka and bring the fees to a uniform level.
