Actor Damita Abeyratne and her husband, who are accused of cheating over 30 lakh rupees by claiming to be given foreign jobs, were arrested today (04) after being handed over to the Fort Magistrate’s Court.
A few days ago, the court rejected the bail petition filed by her and her husband, and then she was banned from traveling abroad.
She was an active member of the Galumuvadora struggle and later became an active member of the Samagi Jana Balawega. She came to the stage of the postponed local government elections as a representative of Samagi Jana Balawega and contributed to the campaigning of that party.
