French cinema icon Brigitte Bardot dies

Brigitte Bardot, a famous actress of the 1950s, has died at the age of 91, the Brigitte Bardot Foundation has announced.

Known as the firebrand of French cinema, she was known for her bold and provocative portrayal of the nude. Considered the actress who brought sexual liberation to world cinema, Brigitte Bardot was married to film director Roger Vadim.

Known to the world as BB, she contributed to many films including A Very Private Affair, And God Created Woman, Mademoiselle Strip-tease, Viva Maria! , The Girl in the Bikini, and The Truth .

Film critics believe that Bardot’s nude scenes were most artistically used in cinema by her husband, Roger Vadim. After retiring from film, she dedicated herself to animal welfare and founded an organization for that purpose.

French President Emmanuel Macron issued a message of condolence expressing his condolences over Bardot’s death. It stated that the entire French people mourn the loss of BB, who was called “a legend of the century”.
