The Fort Magistrate’s Court today ordered the release of former Presidential Secretary Saman Ekanayake on bail.
At the time of granting bail, the Magistrate had stated in his order that the second suspect, Saman Ekanayake, appears to be a second-degree offender in this offense, and that it would not be fair to keep the second defendant in prison since the first defendant, former President Ranil Wickremesinghe, has been released on bail.
Considering the situation as a special situation, the Magistrate ordered the release of Saman Ekanayake on two bails of Rs. 2 million each.
