A group of fishermen in Jaffna, in the Vadamarachchi area, managed to safely release a pod of eleven dolphins that were caught in a fishing net back into the ocean. These dolphins were released near Katteikattil beach.
When dolphins are washed ashore in net entanglements, local fishermen are quick to intervene and return them safely to their natural habitats.
Dholphin’s are Commonly found in the ocean around Sri Lanka, this species of marine mammal is under severe threat due to various human activities.
