The Avissawella Magistrate’s Court has imposed a fine of 500,000 rupees on ‘Leisure World Water Parks (Pvt) Ltd,’ located in Kaluaggala. The fine was issued due to the sale of bottled drinking water at prices exceeding the stipulated Maximum Retail Price (MRP).
The case was filed against the company by the Consumer Affairs Authority. When the matter was taken up before the Avissawella Magistrate’s Court, the defendant company pleaded guilty to the charge, leading the court to impose this fine. During a raid conducted by investigation officers of the Consumer Affairs Authority on August 11, 2026, it was revealed that a locally bottled 500ml bottle of drinking water was being sold for 100 rupees—exceeding the stipulated maximum retail price of 80 rupees.
