Deputy Minister of Agriculture Namal Karunaratne said in Parliament today that some farmers have not received the fertilizer subsidy money provided by the government and that it has been revealed that some party has stolen the money. He said this in response to a question posed by MP Susantha Kumara Navaratne.
He further stated that it has been revealed that Rs. 2,934,310 received as fertilizer subsidy to 155 farmers in the Anuradhapura district has been stolen.
One female official has been arrested in connection with this fraud and a complaint has been filed with the Criminal Investigation Department regarding the misappropriation of fertilizer subsidy money from certain farmers, Deputy Minister of Agriculture Namal Karunaratne said.
