Even under our government, ready to working with IMF

National People’s Power Member of Parliament, Dr. Harini Amarasooriya said that she negotiated with the International Monetary Fund to reach an agreement regarding the debt reform program without locking up the economy. She said this while participating in a public meeting held in Kandy.

She further commented there and said as follows.

“The agreements made with the International Monetary Fund will be reviewed and new proposals will be presented according to the upcoming mandate of the National People’s Power. We need to talk to the International Monetary Fund about the burden that has been imposed on the people and the help they want in debt management.

Many measures have to be taken to grow the economy and build the manufacturing economy. National People’s Power is not ready to block the country’s economy during the debt reform process to prevent it. An agreement should be reached with the International Monetary Fund regarding carrying out both these processes so that the people are not burdened,” she said.
