According to the Disaster Management Center, 67591 people belonging to 15 districts have been affected by the bad weather conditions in the island as of 06.00 yesterday afternoon.
Such disasters are reported from 114 Divisional Secretariat Divisions in Ratnapura, Colombo, Kegalle, Anuradhapura, Mahanuwara, Galle, Kalutara, Jaffna, Puttalam, Gampaha, Hambantota, Badulla Matara, Kurunegala and Polonnaruwa districts.
122 people belonging to 27 families are staying in 03 safe camps and steps have been taken to provide them basic facilities. 502 partial house damages and 02 total house damages have been reported due to calamities.
The Disaster Management Center added that the accidents occurred due to rock falls, tree falls, strong winds, floods and lightning strikes.
