Former MP Eran Wickramaratne has announced that he has taken over the chairmanship of the Sri Lanka Cricket Reform Committee, which was appointed to bring about a transformational change in Sri Lankan cricket.
He said that he took up the position following an invitation from President Anura Kumara Dissanayake and Sports Minister Sunil Kumara Gamage, and that he had extensive discussions with former cricketers and captains in this regard. He said that he finally took over the responsibility yesterday.
Wickramaratne said that it was an honour for him to lead the nine-member committee, which consists of great cricketers, renowned corporate managers and experts in the legal field.
The Chairman of the new sub-committee points out that the main focus of the committee is to introduce a new constitution in accordance with the rules of the International Cricket Council (ICC), to ensure transparency and rebuild public trust through anti-corruption mechanisms, to strengthen the national teams through international-level facilities and incentive mechanisms, and to elevate Sri Lanka to the top of the international rankings.
