The Public Utilities Commission has approved the once again increase in electricity bills from today (20).
Accordingly, the revised rates will increase depending on the number of units using electricity. It is reported that the Public Utilities Commission has approved an 18% increase in electricity tariffs according to the review of the facts of the public coments.
Electricity tariff was revised twice before in 2023 and last July the electricity tariff was reduced slightly.
The public consultation program on the proposed increase in electricity tariffs was also held on the 18th at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall in Colombo. But the process was not conducted with proper regularity, the National Executive of All Ceylon Small Industries Association Niluksha Kumara told the media.
