The debate on the motion of no confidence brought against Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena by the opposition led by Samagi Jana Balawegaya is scheduled to start today in the Parliament.
The communication department of the Parliament says that the debate which is scheduled to start at 9.30 this morning will be held tomorrow as well, and the vote related to the no-confidence motion is scheduled to be held tomorrow at 4.30 pm.
Meanwhile, political sources say that during the party leaders’ meeting held last week, the speaker asked for half an hour after the debate, to present his facts, and the party leaders agreed it.
It is reported that he will reveal many controversial issues inclooding the’ invitation to him to take over the presidency during the struggle.
