The police department says that preliminary discussions have been started regarding bringing the drivers of the vehicles involved in fatal accidents before a doctor to check whether they have used drugs.
Police Media Spokesperson Senior Superintendent of Police Advocate Nihal Talduwa says that as of July 15, 2023, there have been 137 fatal bus accidents, so the situation has to be taken seriously.
“Currently, some drivers are driving their vehicles using not only alcohol but also drugs. In the future, after identification in this regard, the necessary equipment will be brought and tests will be started regarding alcohol and drugs,” he told the media.
