Discussions with the IGP are successful. Bus strike ends.

The private bus owners associations say that the discussion held today between the private bus owners associations and the Acting IGP regarding the special traffic operations being carried out these days was successful.

When the private bus owners associations were preparing for a strike, claiming that police officers were putting unnecessary pressure on bus workers, Acting IGP Priyantha Weerasuriya had given them a meeting. Accordingly, the bus association representatives met the Acting IGP at the Police Headquarters this morning. Following those discussions, the bus associations decided not to proceed with the planned strike action.

Speaking to the media, they stated that the associations have decided not to proceed with the planned island-wide strike.
