President Anura Dissanayake says that the price of diesel came below Rs. 300 after the National People’s Power government came to power.
But he also says that the price of diesel cannot be reduced every month.
He says that there is a huge tax on diesel and that it cannot be removed and that the Treasury is collecting that tax for a huge debt of the Oil Corporation.
He further said that the tax on oil will have to be stopped after the huge debt of Rs. 900 billion is paid off.
He said this while addressing the National People’s Power friendly meeting held in the Aluthgama area.
