Deshabandhu’s writ petition dismissed

The Court of Appeal today refused to issue an interim order preventing the arrest of IGP Deshabandhu Tennakoon.

The court further issued an order directing the police to execute the arrest warrant issued by the Matara Magistrate’s Court against Deshabandhu Tennakoon in accordance with the law.

The order was made by a two-member bench of the Court of Appeal headed by Justice (Acting Chairman) Mohamed Lafar following a writ petition filed by Deshabandhu Tennakoon.

The Court of Appeal decided to dismiss the writ petition with costs.

Deshabandhu Tennakoon, in his writ petition, requested that an order be issued to suspend the arrest warrant issued by the Matara Magistrate.
