The Railway Traffic Superintendent Asanka Samarasinghe said that the recently derailed ‘‘Sagarika’’ train will resume service from today (27).
On the 24th, the Sagarika train running from Beliatta to Maradana derailed at Wadduwa Railway Station, in which 11 of the 13 carriages of the train were derailed. The derailed train was heading towards Colombo after it was re reiled, and derailed again at Company Street.
Four crew members who were travelling on the derailed Sagarika train have been temporarily removed from train operations pending the completion of the investigation into the incident. Accordingly, it has been decided that the driver, conductor, assistant conductor and deputy conductor of that train will not participate in train operations.
