Deputy Minister Aruna Jayasekara warns of potential disruption of essential services

Deputy Minister of Defence Aruna Jayasekara said in Parliament today that the coming weeks could be a crucial time for the country in view of the war situation that has emerged in the Middle East.

He also noted that there may be some delay in the provision of essential services as restrictions may be imposed on shipping and air traffic in the current war situation.

“Due to the current war situation, restrictions have been imposed on shipping and air traffic. There is a possibility of further restrictions being imposed. In that situation, there may be delays in receiving the essential services that we have requested.

The coming weeks are crucial. Accordingly, we need to pay special attention to these essential services. Accordingly, we have taken steps to continue our state of emergency.” The Deputy Minister said.
