Air Vice Marshal (Retd) Sampath Thuiyakontha met the Malwatta Asgiri Thero in Kandy today. Speaking to reporters after the event, he said that he would never represent the parliament as an MP.
The Secretary to the Ministry of Defence said that the opportunity has now been given to attach the tri-forces of the country to the UN Peacekeeping Force, and accordingly, steps will be taken to immediately send a group of tri-forces to Haiti.
Sampath Thuiyakontha also mentioned that there is a shortage of personnel in the security forces and that necessary steps will be taken to minimize that situation.
Commenting on drug traffickers, he said that the tri-forces and the police have made a special contribution to greatly reducing the importation of drugs into the country, and that no opportunity is given to drug traffickers.
