The Kaduwela Magistrate’s Court today granted permission to take over the investigation into the shooting death of former IGP C.D. Wickramaratne to the Western Southern Special Investigation Unit.
Accordingly, the Magistrate ordered that the 9 mm pistol, ammunition casings and other evidence suspected to be related to the incident be produced before the court on the 28th. The order also states that the evidence be forwarded to the Government Analyst and the relevant reports be submitted to the court.
The Western Southern Special Investigation Unit informed the court that the Deputy Inspector General has instructed that all future investigations related to this incident be conducted under his unit in accordance with the provisions of the Code of Criminal Procedure Act.
