Court orders release of Sujeewa’s V8 jeep .

The Fort Magistrate’s Court today (25) ordered the release of the luxury vehicle of former Samagi Jana Balawegaya MP Sujeewa Senasinghe, which was taken into custody by the Criminal Investigation Department, on a bond of Rs. 100 million.

The court had ordered the Criminal Investigation Department to take the luxury vehicle into custody on the 12th on the allegation that it was assembled illegally.

The Public Complaints Investigation Division of the Criminal Investigation Department had submitted a further investigation report regarding this issue and informed the Fort Magistrate’s Court that the jeep was imported into the country in 2010 using the duty-free vehicle license granted to former Parliamentarian J. Sri Ranga.

The court was informed that this jeep had been used by Mr. Sri Ranga for several months without being registered and that it had been involved in an accident in the Settikulam area on March 30, 2011.
